What is Han Ye-Seul’s Real Age?

May 5th, 2009 § 0

There is a controversy going around about what Han Ye-seul’s real age is.

Her profile on Naver says she was born in 1982, but some people put up her high school graduation pictures which say that she went to Cerritos High School and her graduation year was 1998.  That would mean she was born in 1980, not 1982.

Her agency claims that when she began her career she stated her age as the international age, and when she started to do work in Korea the international and Korean age got mixed up.  It seems like the problem arose becuase of the different ways in which Korea and the rest of the world count age.

At any rate, the agency says her real birth year was 1981.

Lee Min-ho

Lee Min-ho

There’s a rumor going around that BOYS OVER FLOWERS drama star Lee Min-ho bought a Benz.

He is very interested in that type of car so he went to look at it, but because of the poor economy and since he just became famous it seemed that right now was not a good time for him to buy it.

In the end he decided not to buy it but people are still saying that he did, so he’s having a hard time with that rumor right now.  I guess being in the public spotlight sometimes does have its disadvantages.

Sang-hoon (Song) is a committed Catholic priest living peacefully in the house of God, similar to Adam in the Garden of Eden. His only weakness is that he is far too reckless – he never feared to sacrifice whatever it meant for salvation. Despite the disapproval of his father role-model, Father Noh (Park In-hwan), Sang-hoon volunteers for a dangerous medical experiment in Africa that the Church has yet to approve.  While there, he catches a virus, called Eve, and dies, but a transfusion with mysterious blood brings him back as a vampire.  The movie also stars Kim Ok-bin as his lover Tae-ju.

The film attracted more than 600,000 moviegoers in its first 3 days after release.  It is expected to surpass 800,000 Sunday.

The drama ‘City Hall’ is about two people working as public officials finding each other in their daily hectic routines and falling for each other.

Shin Mi-rae (Kim Sun-ah) is a low ranking official and has had to menial tasks for her seniors for the last 7 years.  All that changes when she wins a pageant and eventually becomes mayor.

Although the name could be deceiving, City Hall is not intended to be a political drama.  “Politics just happened to appear because of the backdrop.  But that’s not what the series is about.  I wanted to show our ideals: ideal mayors, politicians, and public officials as ordinary people, just like us,” writer Kim Eun-sook said.

On a side note, I believe they’re actually filming this drama in city hall.  A crew was seen last week filming a man getting wet in the Cheonggyecheon river, and I myself unknowingly at the time walked in between a camera and a staged dinner table with a man and a woman nicely dressed sitting.  The woman had the hairstyle of Kim Sun-ah.

Accidental Couple Drama Starring Hwang-Jung Min and Kim Ah-Joong Debuts

May 2nd, 2009 § 0

The new drama ‘Accidental Couple’ starring Hwang-Jung min and Kim Ah-joong was shown today.

When Han Ji-Sung (Kim) gets into a car accident with Gu Dong-Baek (Hwang-Jung), at first all Han cares about is herself and keeping the secret that her secret boyfriend was the one driving her.  To hide the relationship, she drags Gu into the driver’s seat while letting her secret boyfriend get away.  Newsreporters and photographers come to document the scene, and her secret boyfriend gets away clean.  Because of the incident Gu becomes instantly thrown into the public limelight, and things heat up when Han asks him to continue pretending that he’s her real boyfriend.

This story, unfortunetely, may be too painfully predectible.  Even the director himself is trying to spice up the story on his own by piggybacking on other recent hit tv shows, stating that Accidental Couple “… also has an F4″, referring to the wildly popular Boys Over Flowers series.  Yeah, let’s just see about that…
